“There are few things more powerful than the faithful prayers of a righteous mother.”
—President Boyd K. Packer
My journey in motherhood all started with a prayer . Before I could even create a child in my womb I needed to go to the one who created me first with a heart of repentance and ready to surrender all to Him .
Why is this so important for the topic of motherhood ? Because once you become a mother you realize how much control you don’t have and it leaves you looking for answers that you don’t have and this is why you need prayer !
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.”
Proverbs 3:5 ESV
If praying is just having a conservation with the Lord than this is my question
How can you trust in someone you don’t talk to ?
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Proverbs 22:6 ESV
If we are told to train a child in the way they should go my question is
How can we train them if we are not connected to who we get our training from?

“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.”
Psalm 127:3 ESV
Our children are from the Lord which means that they are His before they are ours! which should bring you relief because now you actually have someone to be with you in your journey .
So often as parents we think to ourselves in the middle of a mommy meltdown, when our toddler is throwing a tantrum, or at 3 am before you have to wake up for work at 6 and you have a screaming baby with colic “I wish I had a manual for this kid!”
And I’m not saying that the Bible is like a parenting book but there is scripture in there that can help you get through some really hard situations.
It’s a guide for every area in your life.
“But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 19:14 ESV
Let me start by saying that you’re not just the first bible that some people see but you’re the first example of what it looks like to walk out your faith for your children.
Being the praying mama that your babies need is one of the keys to raise children that know how to get in the presence of God.
My question is :
How can you teach your children to get in the presence of the Lord if you’re not showing them how ?
Now I know if you haven’t been praying how you “think” you should, this can be a little heavy for you. I want to encourage you to just start where you are, right here and right now. Take a minute to just talk with God and let Him know how you feel and make a commitment to start getting before Him more.
If you’re like me, when I received all this my biggest question was,
“But How!? Lord how am I supposed to do all this? Yes I know I need to pray… but I’m also feeling lost in my mothering.
He gave me this :
“You shall therefore lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”
Deuteronomy 11:18-19 ESV
It’s time to start getting into the presence of the Lord , praying over our families.
