Hey, welcome to Every Prayer Matters Blog. My name is Justice Rodriguez, and I help mommas like you implement the “How To” in a powerful prayer life as you navigate through your life as a wife and mother.
In today’s blog, we will discover why it is so crucial for your children to know how to pray!
This blog aims to help you see how your prayers set the tone for every area of your life and even in your children’s life.
Within this blog, there are affiliate links and such because I use them and believe they can help you make your mommy life more fun and, well… support your self-care. Please note that this blog is about my personal story and adventure. I’m not a doctor or a professional to give you medical advice. I’m simply a wife, a mommy of 2, and a developing business owner sold out for Jesus who wants to encourage you in your prayer life because I believe Every Prayer Matters To God!
One of the many memories as a child was my mother teaching me to say my prayers before bed. Even though we didn’t go to church a lot and the topics of God or Jesus didn’t come up at the dinner table even after we started going to church more consistently when I was 14. If I asked about specific things, they would answer to the best of their ability.
As my mother started to recite, “ as you lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord, my soul, to keep …” not understanding what was a soul and why does he want to keep it? I remember feeling an odd sense of comfort.
“…. May angel watch me through the night and wake with the morning light …” angels watching me? God sent them to make sure I’m okay? I must be unique to God.
When we teach other children how to pray, it opens their minds to understanding who created them, and they begin to find their identity in Christ as they build a relationship with God.
When I would say my prayers, I would say, “God bless Grandma, Mommy, Daddy, and my Brothers and Sister,” is the oldest and a bit of a worry bug as a child. It helped me learn from an early age how to intercede in prayer for my family and friends.
When we teach our children to unlock their power in prayer, it can have a lasting effect on their behavior and how they see the world.
“There are few things more powerful than the faithful prayers of a righteous mother.”(President Boyd K. Packer, “These Things I Know”)
Now imagine the power that comes when we teach our children to pray, teaching them to speak life, helping them to be who God created them to be.
I asked a good friend of mine the title of this blog, and her response was so powerful, and I just had to share it with you all; she said :
“Hi friend, I’m excited about your blog!
I was sitting here thinking like I wish I trained my kids to pray at an earlier age !
I am learning the difference in their behaviors when they do pray, like asking God to help them to be kind to others and asking God to forgive them when they aren’t being patient or when they become angry. And seeing now how Illyana will say things randomly like let’s pray for this or them.. and at night when we do pray she has so much on her heart like asking God to help even her friends who lost their moms and who’s dads are away for work or asking God to help bullies to be nicer so her friends will not be sad anymore like it’s just beautiful to me how she just has that relationship you know what I mean 💃🏻”

And I definitely know exactly what she means !
There is so much hate in this world and just how me and you need prayer and to pray for others it’s important we train our child as well , now sweet little lllyanna is prayer warrior !
So I wanted to give you guys some more reasons and scriptures to help you get some biblical context. I encourage you as always to read the full chapters and I double dog dare you to pray some of these over you and your family !
- it’s important because we as believers are told to pray without ceasing and if we are praying and seeking the father it only makes sense that we share our teaches with them
“pray without ceasing,”
I Thessalonians 5:17 NKJV
“Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Proverbs 22:6 NKJV
- helps them build a connection with the one who chose them ( all of us ) before the foundation of the world and helps them start building a relationship with God early.
“just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.”
Ephesians 1:4-6 NKJV
- so they can understand that the Lord is always with them and always ready to listen.
“No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.”
Joshua 1:5 NKJV
“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6 NKJV
“Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.”
Genesis 28:15 NKJV
- they become encouraged when they start seeing their prayers come to pass and this is the perfect opportunity to talk about why God says no or not yet .
“Hear my prayer, O Lord, Give ear to my supplications! In Your faithfulness answer me, And in Your righteousness.”
Psalms 143:1 NKJV
