3 Reasons why you need a prayer journal for your children and 4 tips to make the most of it !

Hey, welcome to Every Prayer Matters Blog. My name is Justice Rodriguez and I help mommas like you implement the “How To” in a powerful prayer life as you navigate through your life as a wife and mother.

In today’s blog, we will talk about 3 reasons you need a prayer journal for your child!

There are affiliate links within this blog because I use them and believe they can help you make your mommy life more fun and well… help your self-care. Please note that this blog is about my personal story and adventure. I’m not a doctor or a professional to give you medical advice. I’m simply a wife, a mommy of 2, and a developing business owner sold out for Jesus who wants to encourage you in your prayer life because I believe Every Prayer Matters To God!

So let us start by talking about what is a prayer journal and why is so important that you have one and you are also making one for your child?

A prayer journal is simply a place where you come to write out your prayers to God. it helps you get those things that you can’t say out of your mouth out in front of you and it can help you create a deeper relationship with God because you can tell #allthethings.

If you are a woman that cant go into any store without checking out the notebooks, planners, markers, and pens then you remember when you were younger and you had your diary and you would just pour out your whole life in that thing, imagine something like that but your dear dairy is replaced with a dear Lord.

Now when you are creating this prayer journal for your children it doesn’t have to be this huge 120 notebook filled with prayers because let’s be honest we are already busy enough so you can start with just praying for specific areas in your children’s life or if you are a new or a mama of littles for the developmental stages but if you want to make one big notebook of prayers, by all means, go for it, I am!

Now you are probably thinking, okay so what are the benefits and I’m happy to tell you.

3 Reasons you need a prayer journal for your child(ren)

  • helps you keep track of your prayers
  • A place to pray specific personal prayers for them
  •  A keepsake that they can look back on

But my most favorite thing is that when that “catch” you writing in it. being able to tell them I’m praying for you and them starting to get the wheels turning and so enough wanting to create a prayer journal for them myself to be able to look back on.

If you are like me I’m all for stopping the generational curses that have been running rampant in my family’s bloodline and starting new traditions and habits that will help my children learn to be faithful and have a heart for not only God’s word but for being in communication with Him.

To think that my children will have even just a hand full of prayers to look back on, reread, and be encouraged that God always and will forever be able and see the prayers of their parents for them and how God was faithful then and will be faithful in their future.

  • Add pictures that you can look at while you are in prayer for them
  •  Be consistent with your entries, put a time frame that is good for you
  •  (ex. One each month for the first year then 1 each year of life or specific topics like self-control, love God’s word, or integrity, honesty )
  • Have fun with it, if you miss an entry don’t be hard on yourself. The purpose of the journal is to have a place to pray for your child so they can have it as something to remember not only you but the faithfulness of God.
