How the word of God can help you when trauma is keeping you bound

Hey, welcome to The Young Faithful Mama Blog. My name is Justice Rodriguez and helping young mamas like you stop feeling unqualified, overwhelmed, and chaotic so you can start raising your babies with more peace and joy.  By sharing some of my experiences and things that I learned through my journey so you can become a Young Faithful Mama too as you navigate through your life as a wife and mother.

The aim of this week’s blog is to learn how the word of God can help you when trauma is keeping you bound.

God doesn’t want you to be bond that’s why He sent his son to come and die for our sins, the word of God is living breathing and life Changing not because the writer in it were so good with their words or were so gifted but it’s life-changing because it is straight from the heart of the father written by the creations He loved enough to sacrifice his son for … your bondage is a part in the story of you because when you read, study and apply the word of God you will be transformed and the chains on you will have no choice but to break off of you.

When I started my walk with Christ the first thing I did was get into the word because well that’s what I hear was good to do to get to know God and learn about Jesus. I wish I could say that I’ve been a dedicated Bible thumper for the last 4 years but that’s not the case and I’m grateful because I get to share that not all Christians (A lot of us, I mean almost all of us ) are not perfect and we can get discouraged, distracted and disappoint but because of grace and grace alone we are saved by Jesus Christ.

I had become weary around the 2-year mark of my walk. With childhood trauma coming up that I didn’t know how to deal with, with relationship tension that wasn’t prepared for I didn’t stay strong I’ll admit and the heaviness got heavier.

The scripture that I had memorized was what got me through the difficult times and ultimately realized that I needed to be as consistent as I could to read and study my word so I could get through the warfare and stay in consistent communication ( prayer ) with the father was something that I needed daily to remain strong and get through my journey.

Now I want to share with you some of what I’ve learned to you can use God’s word to help free you from the heaviness you may be experiencing or about to go through.

The word of God is life-giving.

The word is life-giving because it’s living and active! (‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬ ‭ESV‬‬)

The Bible is nearly 2,000 years old and it can still speak to us in our lives today. There have been so many times that I was either down, confused, or drained, and maybe I read it for myself or someone sent me a scripture and I could feel a charge go straight to my heart and my mood started to change.

I don’t tell you that just saying the word will only uplift you, I share that because they have been times when I felt perfectly fine and the word has corrected me or had me repent and oddly enough I still felt that charge to my heart.

When I see the words life-giving I can’t help but think of Jesus, In John 14:6 he says that he is the way, the truth, and the life.

He is the life, He is our power source and without being connected to Him we have no way to the father the only way to learn the characteristics of God and learn about our savior is to get into His word and create a personal relationship with Him.

Tip: Read at least one verse each day

The word of God is life-changing.

Romans 12 says “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”‭‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬ ‭ESV‬‬

That’s the way the word changes your life by teaching and leading you to learn how to renew your mind. Your negative thinking, you speaking death over yourself most of the time not even knowing. The word is sharp enough to cut through all your flesh so your spirit men can be fed and built up.

Tip: Learn to memorize scripture so when you are dealing with warfare you aren’t empty-handed

The word of God is our sword

In Ephesians 6 starting at verse 20, we read about the whole armor of God and we learn about each of the pieces. In Verse 17 it says

“and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,” the word is our weapon against the enemy and his plans.

The more you get into your word and write it in your heart the more equipped you are to break through your trauma and find freedom.

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬ ‭ESV‬‬

When I recently participated in a discipleship class at my church in one of the sections they teach you about the Holy Spirit and it tells you how important it is to be led by it, When Jesus went back to heaven to prepare for us He left the disciples the Holy Spirit and when we decided to say yes to Our savior we received that Spirit but the one thing that I didn’t know and now that I understand the power that I wasn’t tapping into is the power of talking, praying and being led but I can’t be led by what I don’t study.

If I don’t open my word and meditate on it day and night as Psalm 1 speaks about then what will the Holy Spirit use to minister to me?

Tip: Learn to put on the armor of God daily

Jesus used the word to keep himself from being bound by the enemy’s lies

In Matthew 4 we read about the temptation of Jesus and I encourage you to take time and read that because it’s so powerful and a perfect example of how we are to fight against the enemy’s lies and the triggers of our trauma that tries to keep us bound at each time the enemy tries to get Jesus to give in he comes back with the word of God and shuts him down!

We have that same Word to fight too, it’s all a matter of understanding that without it you are leaving yourself unprotected.

Tip: Speak life over your situation even when you can’t see a way, know that Jesus made a way
